Fall season outlook: A preview of the upcoming sports season

After an unprecedented year of canceled athletic competitions, socially distanced practices, and reduced on-campus rosters due to the COVID-19 pandemic, fall sports have returned to competition in full force.

Students reflect on the year when COVID changed everything

One year ago this week, students received an email from President Maud S. Mandel that announced the campus closure and the transition to remote learning. That week, students wept, partied, spent time with friends, and said many goodbyes.

On Feb. 3, the National Women’s Hockey League (NWHL) COVID-19 bubble burst. Hanna Beattie ’17, a former member of the College’s women’s hockey team who now plays defense for the Connecticut Whale, was among those affected.

Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games postponement raises uncertainty for students and alums involved

Joey Lye ’09, who has been on the Canadian National softball team for the last 10 years, had plans to retire professional playing and fully commit to her duties as head softball coach at Bucknell after the Tokyo 2020 Olympics. But with the 2020 Olympics now scheduled for 2021, she now has to keep her cleats on for another year and adjust her employment plans.
