The Record board has elected Ellie Davis ’26.5, Sonia Zinkin-Meyers ’27, Rosario Carranza Rengifo ’27, and Ben Niewoehner ’27 to lead the newspaper in 2026. Davis will serve as editor-in-chief in the spring, alongside managing editors Carranza Rengifo and Niewoehner. In the fall, Zinkin-Meyers will follow Davis as editor-in-chief. The incoming management will succeed editor-in-chief Haley Zimmerman ’26 and managing editors Inés Garcia ’26 and Aliya Huprikar ’26.
Davis said that she will prioritize documenting all aspects of campus culture in the Record during her semester as editor-in-chief. “Whatever topic is getting a lot of air time in campus discourse has a place in the Record,” she said.
Zinkin-Meyers also stressed the importance of listening to students. “[The Record] spends a lot of time thinking about how to best approach and interact with the administration, and I want to extend that same kind of careful thought to the student body,” she said.
“I want to work on connecting as best we can to the entire student body, representing as many different groups on campus as possible,” Niewoehner added.
Carranza Rengifo said she hopes that readers find the Record feels timely and informative. “I would like us to make more of an effort to make sure that what is on the front page actually reflects what people think is important and are talking about,” she said.
Davis also emphasized the importance of student journalism in the current political climate. “We are working at a time when higher education is under attack from the federal government in a way that’s never been seen before,” she said. “I want us to continue our work to document how the College fits into that.”
Meet the incoming Record management:

Ellie Davis ’26.5
Davis is a political science major from Villanova, Pa. She will serve as editor-in-chief in spring 2026. She previously served as a features section editor and a staff writer for features and arts.
Davis has covered criminal investigations on campus, responses to student protests, and food consumption patterns in dining halls.
“I’m most proud of the story I did on campus recycling because the reporting was very hands-on,” she said.
Outside of the Record, Davis is a member of the women’s crew team, Treestyle improv comedy, and the intramural basketball team “Paula’s Princesses.” She is a fan of the television show Love is Blind.
Sonia Zinkin-Meyers ’27

Zinkin-Meyers is an English and history major from Brooklyn, N.Y. She will serve as editor-in-chief in fall 2026. She has served as executive editor for news, Town news editor, and a staff writer for the features section.
In those roles, Zinkin-Meyers has covered President Maud S. Mandel’s response to the Trump administration, calls for a Native American and Indigenous Studies program, and local politics.
Zinkin-Meyers said that during her time as a Record reporter, an article she wrote about rumors of a U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) presence on campus felt particularly impactful. “I feel that that one really was a time when it felt like it was really, genuinely crucial to do our most basic job of providing information to the campus community when there wasn’t any,” she said.
Outside of the Record, Zinkin-Meyers is on the NOVA ultimate frisbee team and is a member of the history department’s junior advisory group. In her spare time, Zinkin-Meyers enjoys swimming in cold water.

Rosario Carranza Rengifo ’27
Carranza Rengifo is a history major from Cali, Colombia. She will serve as managing editor in spring 2026. She is now the executive editor for arts, and she previously served as a section editor for arts.
As an arts editor, Carranza Rengifo profiled a number of student-artists in the Record’s “Artist Otherwise Known As” series. Her favorite is her profile of Riku Nakano ’25. Carranza Rengifo also reported on the demise of the Italian language program at the College.
Outside of the Record, Carranza Rengifo is a Writing Center tutor and hosts a radio show on WCFM with Record social media editor Catalina Echegoyen. She is also a member of the history department’s junior advisory board.
Her favorite book is El Nervio Óptico by Maria Gainza.
Ben Niewoehner ’27

Niewoehner is a history major from River Forest, Ill. He is currently the executive editor for sports, and he previously served a section editor for the same section.
At the sports desk, Niewoehner has covered a wide range of Eph athletics, from Homecoming triumphs to profiling record-breaking athletes. He said that one of his favorite Record pieces is his profile of olympian Kristi Kirshe ’17. “We have a platform to be able to talk with some pretty cool people … she was somebody I never would have thought I would have spoken with,” Niewoehner said. “She was a pretty awesome Williams student, and she was pretty awesome in the Olympics.”
Outside of the Record, Niewoehner also writes for Sports Information and plays on the “Business Handlers,” an intramural basketball team. He likes running and watching student bands perform. He is a proud Junior Advisor to Prospect 1.
