Studio 9 in North Adams hosts college music night, where students from Berkshire colleges can come together to perform using high-quality sound equipment.
Professor of Music W. Anthony Sheppard was awarded a prestigious Guggenheim Fellowship on April 14, recognizing his distinguished efforts in music research. The fellowship will fund his writing of two books: Opera Since Einstein: Essays in Contemporary Opera and The Performer’s Voice: Timbre and Expression in Twentieth-Century Vocal Music.
The College is moving from Student Academic Records and Human Resources (Sarah) to Workday, in a change that will alter how students select their courses, view academic records, and complete personal online tasks.
Creative writing magazines have been an important part of the College's history, especially for the students that publish them. This week, the Record explored the College's archives to look at student publications from centuries past, and spoke to students involved in more recent literary magazines on campus.
“This Week in Williams History” is a column that looks back at memorable moments in the College’s past through articles in the Record. This week in history, the Record covered a police sting at a pub on Spring Street, a parody pamphlet distributed by students, and a snowless ski carnival.
The existing version of Willipedia, the College-specific online encyclopedia, will be taken offline due to security vulnerabilities. Its articles will not automatically transfer to the new Willipedia with updated infrastructure. Special Collections and student volunteers are working to preserve the website’s contents.
The Zilkha Center for the Environment’s Residential Energy Competition, which began Sept. 19 and will run through Oct. 2, pits dorm against dorm to see who can most reduce their building’s energy consumption.
