Monday 9-28-20
9:59 a.m. Chandler Pool Office: There was a burglary alarm. An officer found the door to the pool was open, but no staff were around. The officer shut that door and rearmed the system. The alarm came back on at 11:40 a.m., and again there was nobody in the area. They rearmed the system. At 12:24 p.m. the alarm was activated yet again. Electrical trades said that they would respond and check the alarm system.
10:31 p.m.: Dispatch received a call for transport to the hospital. Integrative Wellbeing Services was contacted, and the caller was transported.
Tuesday 9-29-20
6:02 p.m. Goodrich House: An officer responded to a fire system trouble alarm. The officer found water leaking from the ceiling through the smoke detector just inside the main entrance. On-campus electrical trades, mechanical trades and custodians were contacted.
7:06 p.m. Chandler Commercial Complex: There was a fire system trouble alarm. The panel indicated that the alarm was caused by a ground fault. Dispatch contacted electrical trades.
Wednesday 9-30-20
2:34 p.m. Chapin Hall parking lot: Dispatch received a report of a suspicious event, in which a delivery person from the Spirit Shop in Williamstown made a delivery to a student in the Chapin Hall parking lot. An investigation followed and resulted in illegal alcohol being seized from a first-year dorm.
5:35 p.m. Williams College Museum of Art: A motion detector alarm in the basement stairwell was set off. Officers responded and the cause was identified.
8:53 p.m. Tennis Courts: A resident living nearby called in a noise complaint. The caller stated that someone was hitting balls against the wall on the back courts. An officer found two students using the tennis courts. They were advised of the complaint and left the area.
Thursday 10-1-20
8:37 a.m. Chaffee Tennis House: Officers responded to a burglar alarm caused by contractors.
Friday 10-2-20
12:13 a.m. East College: Officers responded to a report of students smoking.
10:18 a.m. Southworth St.: There was a fire alarm in the upstairs apartment of 89 Southworth Street. A smoke detector was activated in the kitchen due to smoke from the toaster. The fire system was reset.
Saturday 10-3-20
1:45 a.m. ’62 Center: An officer responded to a forced door alarm.
12:33 p.m.: The director of Campus Safety and Security (CSS) advised officers that a student had tested positive for COVID-19. The student needed CSS assistance to coordinate a move to an isolation building, while their podmates moved to a quarantine building.
3:59 p.m.: There was a report of a remote student visitor in a College dorm in violation of College policy. The student host was identified, and the student visitor was eventually found and removed from campus.
8:54 p.m. Carter House: Following a noise complaint, an officer found a group of 10-to-15 students on the third floor listening to very loud music and broadcasting it across the quad. None of the students present were wearing masks, and nobody was practicing social distancing.
10:44 p.m. Meadow St.: The Williamstown Police Department was notified by a town resident of a loud party on Meadow Street.
Sunday 10-4-20
1:01 a.m.: A facilities staff member reported seeing two students trying to access one of the facilities’ Gators. The students ran away when approached and joined a group of about six students heading to Water Street.
