Tuesday 9-22-20
12:21 a.m. Prospect House: An officer responded to conduct a welfare check based on the concern of a student who reported their friend may have been in some form of distress. All was found to be well.
Wednesday 9-23-20
1:06 a.m. Horn Hall: Officers responded to assist a student with an ankle injury. An officer provided an ice pack and contacted the Non-Emergency Medical Transport Service. The student was transported to Berkshire Medical North.
3:50 p.m. Williams College Museum of Art (WCMA): Officers responded to a motion alarm. Dispatch reported possibly seeing a contractor leave the area when the alarm came in. The officers checked the area but found no one, and nothing seemed out of place.
6:57 p.m. Mission Park: An officer was dispatched to the back side of Mission Park basketball court to meet the athletic facilities monitor, who reported a problem with a non-affiliated local resident who was not cooperative when asked to leave. There is no public access to College facilities at this time and athletic venues are for student use only.
6:46 p.m. Weston Field: An officer found and booted a vehicle per a boot order from the director of Campus Safety and Security (CSS). The boot was authorized after the vehicle appeared to have been driven in violation of the current student use of vehicles policy.
Thursday 9-24-20
9:29 p.m. Wood House: A town resident called in a noise complaint. As an officer approached the house, they could hear a group of students yelling and cheering to loud music. It sounded like a large group of people. The residents of this pod/suite were watching the NBA playoff game. They had the windows open and a portable bluetooth speaker on the window sill. They were advised of the complaint and closed the windows.
10:33 p.m. Lehman Hall: Officers responded to a fire system trouble alarm. Dispatch notified the officers that a student called reporting that smoke detectors were sounding. The officers found the annunciator panel indicating that the fire system was normal. All students had exited the building. An officer went to the third floor where a smoke detector was sounding and found water coming through the ceiling and out of the detector. The officer found water coming from the sprinkler system and had dispatch contact mechanical trades. The leak was stopped and the on-call custodian was contacted to clean up the water.
Friday 9-25-20
1:49 a.m. Sage Hall: An officer responded to perform a wellness check per the request of a parent.
7:02 p.m. Tennis Courts: An officer observed a fire in the fire pit behind the tennis courts. A professor was having a picnic. The officer explained to him that fires were not permitted unless prior approval was granted by the Safety and Environmental Office.
8:15 p.m. WCMA: An officer responded to meet mechanical trades, who were responding to an environmental alarm. Upon arrival, the audible fire alarm appeared to be sounding. Several WCMA administrators and the Museum Security Supervisor were contacted.
10:49 p.m. Bryant House: There was a report of a possible party with loud music. Approaching Bryant through Greylock Quad, officers found things were very quiet. Arriving at Bryant, there was music coming from one of the floors. Officers found a small group of students in a second floor common area listening to music that wasn’t very loud but had deep bass playing. The students were advised of the complaint and lowered the volume of their music.
10:54 p.m. WCMA: A fire panel indicated an activated smoke detector in the loading dock. No cause was found in the loading dock, but this was the same detector that caused an alarm earlier in the night. An electrical tradesman also responded.
Saturday 9-26-20
3:43 p.m. Wood House: An officer responded to the lawn between Wood House and Perry House for a report that there were students gathering, playing beer pong and not following COVID guidelines. Upon arrival there were about 25 students in the area, but a total of two empty beer cans could be seen and the rest of the beverages were water. The students had their masks on and they were about six feet or more from one another. Officer simply reminded the students of the COVID guidelines.
10:44 p.m. Frosh Quad: CSS received a report that students were gathering in large groups outside Williams Hall and not wearing masks. Upon arrival, everyone appeared to be wearing masks, and the groups that were there spread out into smaller groups. Several of the groups moved away from each other and the building, which made the groups more easily defined and separate. Two other calls came in regarding the same issues. Both times the Quad was checked and students were found compliant.
Sunday 9-27-20
1:09 p.m. Sherman House: Officers responded to a fire alarm and found the audible alarm was ringing. The cause was smoke from cooking oil.
5:17 p.m. Mission Park: An officer conducted a welfare check on a student per request of the Dean of the College.
