Tuesday 2-18-20

3:18 a.m. Sawyer Library: Officers responded to an intrusion/motion alarm in room 248. There was nobody present, but the 3-D printer was operating and the motion most likely activated the alarm. Another such alarm came in at 3:36 a.m. after officers re-armed the system. 

11:32 a.m. Taconic Trail: A student traveling on the Taconic Trail close to the New York state line reported that the Zipcar that they were driving was off the side of the road on the shoulder. The Williamstown Police Department (WPD) was notified and advised of the towing arrangement. The WPD stated that they would send an officer to verfiy that the vehicle was off the road and not a hazard, after which they called Campus Safety and Security (CSS) back and advised that the vehicle was a hazard and needed to be towed immediately. Staffing and road conditions allowed CSS to pick up the students and return them to campus.

Wednesday 2-19-20

4:00 a.m. Sawyer Library: Officers responded to an intrusion alarm at room 248. The 3-D printer was once again in action, and had most likely activated the motion sensors. 

Thursday 2-20-20

12:43 p.m. Hopkins Hall: An officer was dispatched after graffiti was observed on the side of the water fountain by the men’s bathroom and vending machines.  

Saturday 2-21-20

7:05 a.m. College Bookstore: An officer responded to a motor vehicle accident near the bookstore that involved a College-owned vehicle. The officer contacted the WPD, which responded.

4:45 p.m.: Officers observed a Northeast Charter bus back into a parked car.  The officers took the driver’s information and contacted the WPD. The WPD arrived, took pictures and met with the bus driver.   

7:57 p.m. Chandler Pool: An officer responded to a report of a person present at the pool who had been banned from campus. The person was asked to leave the building and did so, but remained outside looking through the window. The officer met the person outside and told them that they could not be on College property. 

Sunday 2-23-20

9:52 a.m. Jesup Hall: An Office of Information Technology staff member reported graffiti at the rear entrance. The graffiti was similar to that which was found in December 2019. Dispatch contacted the WPD. They requested that the incident report and pictures be faxed to the police station.

12:13 p.m. Danforth Lot: While patrolling, an officer noticed some graffiti on the west wall of the hockey rink.  The color of paint appears to be the same that was discovered at Jesup Hall earlier in the day. A work order was submitted for removal of both instances of graffiti.
