Monday 10-5-20
8:51 a.m.: Per a request from the Dean’s Office, a remote student was contacted by Campus Safety and Security (CSS) concerning reports of their presence in a dorm, as remote students are currently not permitted inside College housing.
8:58 a.m. Grundy Art Studio: Dispatch received a report of an odor of gas. An officer arrived along with Environmental Health and Safety staff, and sounded the fire alarm. The officer called 911 to contact the Williamstown Fire Department.
10:00 a.m. Meadow Street: The director of CSS received a report from the Williamstown Police Department (WPD) regarding an incident that occurred on Saturday, Oct. 3. WPD responded to a noise complaint from a local resident on Meadow St.
11:24 a.m. Dodd House: Officers and Non-Emergent Transport Service assisted two students in moving into quarantine rooms in Dodd after they were identified by contact tracing.
1:39 p.m. Chandler House, 26 Walden Street: A contractor using the building for office space regarding the North Science Center construction project reported the burglary and theft of equipment and air conditioners.
3:35 p.m. Parking Garage: 911 was called for a person in pain who had fallen while exiting a business on Spring St. Northern Berkshire Ambulance Service responded and transported the individual to Berkshire Medical Center (BMC) in North Adams.
Tuesday 10-06-20
12:17 p.m. Chandler Equipment Room: An intrusion alarm sounded, but officers found the room locked and the system armed. The officers found a fax machine running, which possibly activated the motion detectors.
Wednesday 10-7-20
10:45 a.m. Paresky Mailroom: An officer responded concerning a suspicious package emitting a strong odor of marijuana.
4:42 p.m. COVID-19 Testing Site: An officer responded to check for any damage caused by high winds from a recent storm. Several of the porta-potties, and the two pop-up shade tents in the circle of the drive, were blown around and damaged. Both of the long narrow sections of the tents on the main level of the parking garage were also damaged. Work orders were submitted for clean-up and repairs.
4:43 p.m. Paresky Lawn: Several reports were made of a fallen tree near the President’s house. Due to the storm, a large tree fell down, blocking the path to Route 2. The tree was on the ground and presented no danger. Grounds crew was on campus and notified of the incident.
4:50 p.m. Weston Field: A report was issued regarding a partially collapsed tent near the track. The tent company was notified the next morning.
6:11 p.m. Tyler Drive: An officer found storm damage in two different locations along Tyler Drive. The officer documented the damage and submitted work orders for Facilities repair services.
9:38 p.m. Meadow Street: A caller reported a large party with many people not following COVID-19 restrictions at 18-20 Meadow St.
Thursday 10-8-20
2:02 a.m. South Science Center: An officer responded to a door ajar alarm. The east door was being kept open by the airflow coming out of the building.
5:31 a.m. West College: Officers responded to a forced door alarm. No cause was determined.
Friday 10-9-20
8:40 a.m. South Science Center: An officer responded to a level 1 natural gas emergency shutoff C alarm. The officer arrived to find training was in progress concerning the shutoff.
Saturday 10-10-20
8:12 a.m. Spring Street Market: The owner of Spring St. Market called and reported an odor of gas in the basement. Officers responded and pulled a fire alarm to evacuate the building. The officers called 911 for a Williamstown Fire Department response. The on-call Safety and Environmental Compliance staff member was called and notified along the on-call Mechanical trades. Berkshire Gas was also called and immediately responded.
1:46 p.m. Morgan Hall: A smoke detector was found with a good amount of water coming through the detector. The on-call mechanical and electrical tradesmen responded, and work orders were submitted.
9:08 a.m. Williams College Museum of Art: Staff reported a water leak in one of the galleries. The on-call mechanical tradesperson was contacted, along with the on-call custodian.
12:54 a.m. Sawyer Library: A report was submitted regarding a biohazard (vomit) on the floor. A custodian was contacted and responded to clean up the vomit.
6:26 p.m. Southworth Street: An officer responded to a tenant reporting a power outage.
5:40 p.m. Gladden House: A student met responding Officers and informed them they had burnt popcorn in the microwave. They had already opened windows to ventilate the area. The system was silenced, reset and returned to normal.
8:40 p.m. Sage Hall: Dispatch received a call from a JA regarding a damaged paper towel dispenser and a conflict between entries. The damage occurred in the Sage A 3rd floor bathroom. A work order was placed to have the paper towel dispenser repaired and remounted to the wall.
11:59 p.m. Currier Hall: Officers responded to a report of an intoxicated student. The student was evaluated and transported to BMC-North Campus for treatment.
Sunday 10-11-20
12:34 a.m. Tyler House: Officers responded to reports of COVID-19 violations. The officers found a gathering of more than 10 students inside, with only a few wearing masks. The music was turned off and the students dispersed.
8:41 a.m.: Officers delivered a food care package to a student having digestive issues. The student was very happy and appreciative of the delivery and visited the health center once it opened.
