Thursday 8-27-20
5:02 p.m. Mission Park: An officer responded to a complaint called in by phone and a subsequent tip line submission that a student was being assisted by family moving into Mission Park in violation of the move-in policies.
6:51 p.m. Williams Hall: Officers were dispatched to for a medical emergency called in by a parent of the student. The officers checked and verified the student was actually OK and not in need of emergency medical care.
Friday 8-28-20
2:41 a.m. Mission Park: An officer responded to a tip line complaint stating that first-years were breaking quarantine. The main areas of Mission Park were checked, and no students were found breaking quarantine.
4:50 p.m. Morgan Hall: A fire alarm was activated with no apparent cause. When the system was reset, it immediately re-activated. The on-campus electrical tradesperson was contacted and responded to replace the detector.
11:59 p.m. Spring St.: The Williamstown Police Department (WPD) responded to 15 Spring St. for a noise complaint and asked for Campus Safety and Security (CSS) presence.
Saturday 8-29-20
7:19 a.m. The Log: An intrusion alarm went off. The cause of the activation was three balloons that activated motion sensors.
4:00 p.m.: An officer was called to assist a student who had just received a positive COVID-19 test in moving to one of the designated isolation residences. Northern Berkshire Non Emergency Transport (NEMT) also responded, and College administrative and health authorities were apprised.
9:42 p.m. The Log: Another intrusion alarm went off. The motion detector activation were the same three extra-large balloons filled with helium that were being blown around from the air conditioning and ventilation system.
Monday 8-31-20
12:40 a.m. Gladden House: Dispatch received a noise complaint from two students who believed it was coming from across Route 7. Officers found loud music, loud talking and yelling coming from behind the garage located at 63 North Street.
3:27 p.m. Weston Field: An officer responded to a report of kids playing around and on the goal posts. A few parents who were sitting on the sidewalk near the Gargoyle Gate reported they were just trying to find an area where their kids could play outside. The officer informed them that the College fields were closed to the public.
8:25 p.m. Southworth St.: Three officers responded to a Code 1 Fire alarm at 40 Southworth St. The alarm was caused from cooking in the first-floor apartment. The alarm was reset.
Tuesday 9-1-20
7:45 a.m. Mount Hope Inn: A fire alarm went off. Officers responded and determined the cause but could not get a reset. Electrical trades called to respond.
Wednesday 9-2-20
12:14 a.m. Farley-Lamb Field: While performing a check of the area, an officer heard loud voices coming from the Peck grandstand. As the officer approached the grandstand, a group of six unidentified individuals ran from the grandstand into the woods toward the walking path that leads to the Williams Inn. Under the grandstand, the officer found 40 empty beer cans and bottles.
10:44 p.m. Paresky East Patio Overhang: A student called to complain that students were not social distancing. There was a group of 31 students congregating in small groups during a downpour. The students were social distancing, wearing masks, and spread out along the front of the Paresky Patio Overhang.
Thursday 9-3-20
5:54 p.m. Horn Hall: An officer responded to check for a possible party and socially distancing violations.
9:15 p.m. Frosh Quad: An officer responded to a complaint that there were large groups of students hanging around outside of Sage and Williams, being loud and playing music.
Friday 9-4-20
3:48 p.m. Hoxsey St.: CSS received a report of loud music and multiple people near Hoxsey Street. At 4:37 p.m., another officer was asked to respond to this same location for an anonymous complaint of the same issue.
7:16 p.m. Doughty House: Dispatch received a call from a student regarding feeling symptoms of a concussion that was sustained before coming to campus. They were concerned about getting into trouble by leaving campus before their quarantine was over by going to an emergency room. After speaking with officers, Northern Berkshire NEMT transported the student to Berkshire Medical Center (BMC).
8:23 p.m.: A parent asked for a welfare check on a student after they had been trying to contact their first-year child for several hours and had been unsuccessful.
Saturday 9-5-20
4:43 p.m. Bryant House: Officers responded to a report of a student that may have fainted while moving in. Upon arrival, an officer asked for 911 to be activated for Northern Berkshire EMS to respond. EMS arrived and evaluated the student, determining that the student was not in need of transport to the emergency room .
8:00 p.m.: Campus Safety received information regarding students possibly violating quarantine. The students in question were swimming off campus in the river behind Linear Park off of Water Street.
9:15 p.m. Frosh Quad: Dispatch received an anonymous complaint about students not wearing masks and not social distancing.
9:36 p.m. Frosh Quad: Officers were dispatched for a report of multiple large gatherings outside. Upon arrival, there were five to six groups of students, under ten in each group,, with all students wearing masks.
11:20 p.m. Cole Field: CSS received a report of a large gathering on the field. Officers found two groups of students, both under ten people, all wearing masks and socially distanced from one another.
Sunday 9-6-20
7:45 a.m.: Officers were dispatched to assist a student who just received a positive COVID-19 test. That student was to be moved to a designated isolation site. Northern Berkshire EMT was also called to transport the student. College administrative and health authorities were apprised.
11:02 p.m. Wood House: Dispatch received a call that there was a large group of people in the open field behind Wood House listening to loud music and breaking social distancing regulations.
Monday 9-7-20
9:51 a.m. Sage Hall: An officer responded to a report of students not social distancing.
3:32 p.m. Cole Field House: Officers responded to a student with an ankle injury. After speaking with Health Center staff, the student was transported to the Health Center.
7:15 p.m.: Dispatch received a call stating that a student was having a party with drugs and alcohol.
10:31 p.m. Mission Park: Dispatch advised that 911 was being activated for a sick student in Mission Park. Officers responded and assisted Northern Berkshire EMS. The student was transported to Berkshire Medical Center in North Adams, Mass.
10:54 p.m. Frosh Quad: An officer responded to an anonymous caller reporting that there may have been an illegal gathering on the marble blocks. Upon arrival, there were no students on any marble blocks in the quad.
Tuesday 9-8-20
3:40 p.m. Lasell Gymnasium: Officers were dispatched for an intrusion alarm. Two technicians were checking the Wi-Fi system in the Upper Level Fitness Center and accidently walked out the door, setting off the intrusion alarm.
6:29 p.m. Southworth Schoolhouse Apartments: A cooking-related code one fire alarm went off.
10:01 p.m. Frosh Quad: An officer responded to a report of a large gathering of students. On arrival, the officer observed a group of 25-to-30 students gathered at Williams Hall between the A and B entries, including several students without masks. Before the officer could exit the cruiser, all but four students scattered, running for the dorm. The officer spoke with the four remaining students and asked them to pass along to their friends that students could gather but they had to be in groups of ten or less, they had to wear masks and they had to socially distance.
10:25 p.m. Faculty Club: Officers responded to a burglary alarm; the alarm was caused by dining staff that entered the building through the unlocked kitchen door, unaware that the building had been armed for the evening.
10:30 p.m. Poker Flats: Two officers were dispatched after it was reported that 40-to-50 students were playing beer pong by the tree line. About 120 students were in the area.
11:06 p.m. Latham St.: At the request of the WPD, CSS responded to a noise complaint. The officers could hear loud music coming from the back of the house. WPD had them shut off the music. The students were very cooperative and were socially distanced.
Wednesday 9-9-20
11:57 a.m. Bryant House: Officers responded to a 911 medical call for a student experiencing nausea and a very bad headache. An ambulance arrived and evaluated the student. They decided to transport the student to BMC.
9:01 p.m. Tennis Courts: While on routine patrol near Poker Flats, an officer noticed a campfire in the pit behind the tennis courts. There were around 20-to-25 students there in small groups with masks on. The students didn’t know a permit was required for the use of the fire pit.
Friday 9-11-20
7:48 a.m. Faculty Club: An officer responded to a burglary alarm. The officer walked through the building and did not find anyone inside, and then reset the system.
8:00 a.m. Faculty Club: Dispatch received another burglary alarm from the same north door. An electrical trades technician caused both alarms and was unaware the building was armed.
4:56 p.m. Thompson Health Center: A medical assistant called dispatch to report a student had tested positive for COVID-19. The student was relocated to an isolation building.
Saturday 9-12-20
1:39 a.m. Greylock Quad: An officer responded to a noise complaint. The complaint dispatch received was about large groups greater than ten that were not socially distancing. As soon as the officer arrived, all of the students dispersed into buildings.
11:26 p.m. South St.: The WPD called dispatch to report a noise complaint coming from a group of about 30 people on South St. An officer responded and the only gathering found was a group of eight students outside of Garfield. The students were wearing masks and socially distanced.
Sunday 9-13-20
11:43 p.m. Frosh Quad: An officer responded to a noise complaint. The caller stated that there was loud music being played and that they couldn’t sleep. When the officer arrived, no music was being played and the area was quiet.
