Monday 10-15-18

7:17 p.m., Lasell: Officers met with an athletic facility monitor concerning an issue with a student and access to the fitness center. 

Tuesday 10-16-18

2:02 a.m., Faculty House: Officers responded to a report from the Williamstown Police Department (WPD) of a large tree branch that had fallen. 

Wednesday 10-17-18

10:25 p.m., Currier Quad: An officer responded to a report of an ongoing problem with students smoking in an unoccupied but unlocked room.

11:40 p.m., Morgan Hall: Officers responded to a tipline submission that did not specify a complaint, just a location. The anonymous complaint read, “Morgan basement right now.” Upon arrival, there was a small group of students at the kitchen table playing a card game. They were informed of the complaint. 

Thursday 10-18-18

10:25 a.m., St. John’s Church: Officers responded to a report of suspicious activity on Park Street.  The caller stated that he noticed a man hiding near the bushes wearing what he described to be a mask constructed of metal. WPD was also notified. This turned out to be a theatre class exercise.

10:41 a.m., Williams Hall: Officers responded to a report of a stolen sign in a common room. An officer responded and removed the sign. 

Friday 10-19-18

3:32 p.m., Library Shelving Facility: Officers responded to a report from the manager of safety and environmental compliance that there was an issue involving a gas leak at the off-campus facility on Simonds Road. The on-call mechanical tradesperson was contacted, and he advised that Berkshire Gas was already on the way.  

10:55 p.m., Perry House: Officers were dispatched in response to a report of someone setting off fireworks.

Saturday 10-20-18

12:30 a.m., Sage Hall: Officers were dispatched to respond to a non-student who was intoxicated. Northern Berkshire Emergency Medical Services responded and transported the person to Berkshire Medical Center North. 

5:33 p.m., 5:47 p.m., The power across the whole campus went out for approximately 10 seconds each time. Multiple alarms were received at Campus Safety and Security (CSS) dispatch. Power outage protocol was put into effect. The on-call electrical tradesperson and mechanical tradesperson were called and responded to campus to check the critical mechanical system. Extra CSS staff was called. Information Technology was contacted to check various systems. The Science Center safety manager was contacted to have sensitive equipment and freezers in labs checked. Facility operations and the utilities engineer were informed of the outages.  

Sunday 10-21-18

12:53 a.m., Mission Park: Officers responded to perform a wellbeing check on a student at the request of a concerned student friend. 

3:30 p.m., Children’s Center: Officers responded to an intrusion alarm, caused by staff, originating in the lobby.
