On Indigenous Peoples’ Day, an anonymous artist installed an art display partially covering Williamstown’s 1753 House, a replica of a settler home located in Field Park. The installation represents the history of Indigenous communities in Williamstown and will stay up until Oct. 29, during which time the 1753 House will be inaccessible to the public.
WCMA welcomed visitors this fall with the Sweaty Concepts exhibition. The exhibit includes Why I Watch with Closed Captions, a drawing by Christine Sun Kim, who spoke at the College on Sept. 23.
During the pandemic, shows and events in and around Williamstown halted in-person production and shifted to digital formats. However, with mass vaccination programs now underway, this year’s summer theater season appears promising as the county and country approach a new normal.
On March 11, Curator of Mellon Academic Programs Elizabeth Gallerani, art history graduate student Amber Orosco, and artist and Assistant Professor of Art Murad Khan Mumtaz hosted an event titled “Practice & Process in Indian Drawing,” during which attendees were able to take a deeper dive into Indian art and, more specifically, Indian miniature painting.
With the recent national presidential election, the subject of voting has been continuously plastered across the media and in the minds of many. However, following the 2016 presidential election, voter suppression has been growing rampant and encouraged by the likes of certain politicians.
