Monday 4-12-21

7:29 a.m. Carter House: Officers responded to a fire alarm caused by the use of hair spray and a hair dryer. 

8:45 a.m. Williams Hall: An officer responded to a report of a party with alcohol consumption in a common room. The officer documented the remaining setup and began an investigation.

7:17 p.m. Gladden House: An officer met with members of the Williamstown Police Department who checked a 911 call in which the caller hung up before speaking. 

Tuesday 4-13-21

1:56 a.m.: A student called Campus Safety and Security (CSS) to report an extortion threat on Facebook. 

Thursday 4-15-21

11:35 a.m. Perry House: An officer responded to meet with a staff member concerning hard alcohol left out in public view. 

12:26 a.m. Mission Park: An officer responded to a repeating “Trouble and Restore” alarm sequence and contacted Electrical Trades to submit a work order.

Friday 4-16-21

12:03 a.m. Williams College Museum of Art: Officers responded to a motion alarm.  

12:45 p.m. Wachenheim Science Center: A staff member called to report an audible alarm sounding in room G-19. An officer found the alarm to be coming from a freezer and called Mechanical Trades, who responded immediately.

3:35 p.m. Sawyer Library: An officer responded to an intrusion alarm and activated motion detector in the archives. 

4:26 p.m.: A Berkshire Regional Transit Authority bus driver turned in a wallet that was found on their bus. The person who owned the wallet was notified and came into the CSS office to pick it up. The owner reported that $40 was missing, and CSS officers wrote a theft report and took a statement. 

3:55 p.m. Weston Field House: An officer responded to check on a door ajar alarm. The officer found no one on site and removed a bottle of sanitizer being used to prop the door open before resetting the door alarm. 

Saturday 4-17-21

12:10 a.m. Tyler House: Officers responded to noise complaints and found no excessive noise or disturbance.

1:00 a.m. East College: An officer responded to a noise complaint and found the area quiet with no music being played. The officer spoke with a few students who said that they had been listening to music at one point but had finished. 

2:03 a.m. East College: An officer responded to a report of a dispute between residents that resulted in the earlier noise complaint.

12:06 p.m. Fayerweather Hall: A resident reported that they and other residents had noticed an unpleasant odor in the building since the prior evening. They said they believed the smell might be coming from the trash in the basement or a washer or dryer. An officer arrived and discovered a very strong odor of trash or possibly a dead animal in the basement trash and laundry rooms. The officer notified the on-call custodian, and the custodian removed the trash from the building, which seemed to take care of the odor.

12:58 p.m. Schow Science Library: Officers responded to several water leak alarms. The officers called Mechanical Trades after finding no signs of a leak or water flow.

Sunday 4-18-21

12:06 a.m. Currier Quad: An officer reported a large gathering in Currier Quad that adhered to the College’s public health guidelines. Given the time and location, the officer asked the students to turn the music down.

12:15 a.m. Mission Park: Officers responded to reports of a large gathering of students playing loud music. Upon arrival, they did not find anything, but they heard some noise from the area around Poker Flats. An officer found a small group of students playing their radio on the west end of Poker Flats in Thompson Parking lot, in compliance with College’s guidelines. The officer asked them to keep the music down. 

3:54 a.m. Wachenheim Science Center: Officers responded to a Fire System trouble alarm. The officer called Electrical Trades and submitted a work order.

2:32 p.m. Spencer House: An officer responded to a report of the elevator not working and notified Electrical Trades to respond.
