On late Friday, the name of a prominent white supremacist organization was found written on the whiteboard in Thompson House. The name of the same group had been written in the same place earlier this year.
Administrators and Campus Safety and Security (CSS) notified residents of the house immediately, but did not send an all-campus notification. “Both Dean [of the College Marlene] Sandstrom and CSS [Supervisor David] Bartels sent messages to the house, offering personal support as well as asking for any information about what might have been witnessed,” Vice President for Campus Life Steve Klass said.
Klass said that the administration did not have any further information on the incident as of press time. “That’s all we have at the moment,” he said.
Editor’s Note: The group in question has previously participated in violent attacks such as the August 2017 Charlottesville, Va., rally that resulted in the death of one counter-protester. The group commonly recruits on college campuses; as such, we have chosen not to publish the name of the group.
