On Oct. 14, volleyball (11-6, 3-5 NESCAC) pulled out a 3-0 win over Endicott College (9-9), following a 3-2 loss to Tufts (9-7, 4-4 NESCAC) the previous day. In the team’s first game against Endicott since 2016, co-captain Celia Adams ’24 led with 15 kills, joined in her efforts by co-captain Lauren Kauppila ’24 and Morgan Daetz ’27, who each had 18 assists. On defense, libero Sidra Wohlwend ’25 contributed 10 digs, and Marit Hoyem ’24 accrued five blocks

The team’s victory over Endicott ended a three-game losing streak that was a change of pace for the Ephs, who went undefeated for the first eight games of their season. Wohlwend said the team has been reflecting on the parts where they have been lacking and identifying the areas that they could improve upon.
“We’ve done a really good job of coming back and implementing what we’ve been learning and [adding that] to our game,” she said. In the opening set against Endicott, Adams and Hoyem drove the offense by racking up eight and five kills respectively. Although the second set was a close call, the Ephs defeated the Gulls’ lead with pressure and took off on a 12-4 run. With back-to-back aces from Kauppila, the Ephs ended the set 25-14. The Ephs’ game against Tufts the day before the Endicott game lasted five sets after the Ephs took the first and third and the Jumbos took the second, fourth, and fifth. “Tufts was a difficult loss,” Keely Campuzano ’27 wrote in an email to the Record. “I feel [that] we had momentum in the fourth set and let the match slip away.”
“The key adjustments at Endicott were protecting our lead and not letting up,” she continued. These adjustments proved successful for the Ephs, as they took three sets in a row to beat Endicott.
This weekend, the Ephs will host the New England Challenge at home, where they will face No. 20 MIT (20-3). Looking ahead, head coach Christi Kelsey is focused on seeing improvements in the Ephs’ stringing together wins. “We are really working on improving our consistency with each opportunity we get to play both in terms of our skills and in our mindset with how we compete together,” she wrote in an email to the Record.
