100 WORD LOVE STORY

100 WORD LOVE STORY

Avery Trinidad

Once, I went to the MET with a college friend only a little over an hour before closing. When we came up to the ticketing counter, we fumbled through deciding just how much money to give. The lady there tried to reassure us. “I can tell you are lovers,” she chimed, accented. “So, you can just pay $5 for the both of you.” The word “lovers” is loaded for two queer men, but she was kind of right. We kissed in a room dedicated to Bronze Age Cypriot art, in-between bird-faced statuettes and similar testaments to an age long gone.
