Senior athletes reflect on competing for the College
May 10, 2022
The Record reached out to senior athletes for reflections on their time playing for the College. Here are a few of their responses.
Will Kingham ’22: Track and Field
What game will you remember after you graduate?
Honestly, our most recent NESCAC championship just a few weeks ago made me proud to be a member of the team. Even though we fell just short of a talented Tufts team — placing second overall — the sheer number of personal bests and gutsy performances from teammates will always stick with me.
What advice would you give to your younger self?
Don’t be afraid to make a fool out of yourself, if that’s what’s best for the team. Laughter can really help bring the team together— even if it’s laughing at you.
What will you miss most about playing for Williams?
Being a part of such a cohesive team has been a privilege. Not only are track teams huge, but the sport attracts a huge array of people. Despite that, the team over the past four years (and particularly this year) has been remarkably close-knit, and I know I’ll miss that in “retirement.”
Jack Sercu ’22: Men’s Lacrosse
What is your favorite pregame meal?
A spring street market sandwich, a granola bar, and a Dunkin’ caramel cold brew with a shot of espresso.
Do you have a favorite action shot? Why is it your favorite?
This one is my favorite — I scored the final goal against Wesleyan on a senior day, putting them away right at the front of our bench.
What will you miss most about playing for Williams?
The opportunity to compete against and alongside my teammates to strive toward a common goal.
