Sunday 2-7-21
7:01 p.m.: Campus Safety and Security (CSS) responded to an activated fire alarm from an off-campus faculty residence. The Williamstown Fire Department was contacted for assistance and found the cause to be a small fire in the oven. The officers did not find damage and provided a replacement extinguisher to the residents.
Tuesday 2-9-21
10:45 p.m. Paresky: Officers responded to an intrusion alarm. They found contractors working in the area who did not know the area was alarmed, and the officers disarmed the alarm until the contractors completed their work.
Wednesday 2-10-21
3:17 p.m. Weston Field: CSS received a complaint regarding someone listening to loud music and smoking in the grandstands. Officers found and spoke to the individual, who was visiting family and was unaware that the fields were closed. They left the area without issue.
5:42 p.m. Lehman Hall: CSS received a complaint of no heat from a student and contacted Mechanical Trades to correct the issue.
5:58 p.m. Williams Hall: CSS received a call about a student’s room key not working and contacted Architectural Trades to correct the issue.
7:14 p.m. Prospect Hall: CSS received a call about a student’s room keypad not working and contacted Architectural Trades to correct the issue.
Thursday 2-11-21
8:31 p.m. Goodrich Hall: CSS responded to an activated fire alarm. Officers found that the alarm had originated from a pull station but did not locate an activated pull station, believing there to be a fault in the system. Officers reset the system and submitted a work order for the pull station to be checked.
8:42 p.m.: Officers assisted with the relocation of one student to quarantine housing and two students to isolation housing.
Friday 2-12-21
12:33 a.m. Mission Park: Officers responded to assist Northern Berkshire Emergency Medical Services (EMS) with a student who was experiencing nausea, vomiting, and hot and cold flashes. The student was taken to Berkshire Medical Center North.
10:24 a.m. Wachenheim Science Center: Officers responded to an activated fire alarm and found that a contractor using spray paint accidentally set off the alarm. Officers reset the system and informed the senior project manager of the outcome.
Saturday 2-13-21
10:58 a.m. Sage Hall: CSS received a complaint of no heat from a student. Officers found the temperature in the room below 65 degrees and contacted Mechanical Trades to correct the issue.The problem could not be solved at the time, and the student was given a space heater for the weekend.
12:21 p.m. Fitch House: CSS received a report of no power from a student. An officer responded, found a breaker had tripped, and reset the breaker and restored the power.
12:28 p.m. Morgan Hall: CSS received a call from a student who reported that their keypad was not working. Officers contacted Architectural Trades, who responded and corrected the issue.
7:33 p.m. Tyler House: Officers responded to an activated fire alarm and checked the area but could not find a cause. They reset the system.
8:59 p.m.: CSS received a report of three students who had tested positive for COVID. Officers assisted with the relocation of the students to isolation housing.
10:58 p.m.: Officers assisted with the relocation of 15 students who had been in close contact with someone who tested positive to quarantine housing.
Sunday 2-14-21
9:52 a.m. Parsons House: CSS received a complaint of no heat from a student. Officers found the temperature in the room to be below 65 degrees and contacted Mechanical Trades to correct the issue.
11:28 a.m. Mission Park: Officers responded to a fire system trouble alarm but could not fix the problem, so they contacted Electrical Trades to correct the issue.
11:39 a.m. Mission Park: CSS received a call from a student who reported that their keypad was not working and contacted Architectural Trades to respond and correct the issue.
1:28 p.m. Fayerweather Hall: Officers responded to a burst pipe in a student’s room and found that the end of a radiator had come off when it was turned on by the student. The student was able to turn the water to the radiator off before it leaked too much. CSS contacted Custodial Services for assistance in cleaning the water and Mechanical Trades to repair the radiator.
4:28 p.m.: While on routine patrol, officers found unattended alcohol on the front step of a dorm and took it so that no one under age could take it. No one has come forward to claim ownership.
