6:04 p.m. Thompson student parking lot: Dispatch received a report that a parked car had a broken window. An officer met with the owner at the vehicle, which had a broken driver’s side small rear window. The Williamstown Police Department (WPD) also responded, took photos for documentation and searched for what may have caused the damage.

9:52 a.m. Paresky Center: A College tradesman came to the campus safety and security (CSS) office to report suspicious activity. According to the tradesman, at approximately 9:30 a.m., an unknown person entered the Paresky Center and began asking odd questions. Upon being asked why he was asking these questions, he quickly left the building. Officers searched the areas he was seen entering. While doing so, the WPD chief reported noticing this same man in the area of Route 7 and Syndicate Rd. and stated that he was going to attempt to contact this person.
10:35 p.m. Mark Hopkins House: Officers responding to a noise complaint found a small group of students listening to music in a common room with hard alcohol present. While passing through a different common room, they also found a lit candle on the table. The candle was confiscated and brought to the safety and environmental compliance office.
11:59 p.m. Perry House: While officers were responding to another call, an event’s hosts reported that they were having difficulty controlling the crowd, and they felt that the event was getting out of hand. They explained that students were not responding to their attempts to maintain capacity. The event was seriously overcrowded and well beyond building and room capacity. The officers cleared the goat room and pool room in order to bring the event back into compliance, explaining that the party was not being broken up and that that they would start letting people in as soon as compliance was met. Once compliance was met, the hosts began letting students back in.

11:26 a.m. Former Williams Inn: Dispatch received a report from the senior project manager of an odor inside of the building that may be gas. Officers responded immediately and confirmed the odor, after which they activated 911 to notify the Williamstown Fire Department (WFD) and Berkshire Gas. The officers cleared the building by activating the audible fire alarm, sweeping through to make sure everyone left. WFD then arrived on the scene, verified the gas odor and ordered that the building be kept clear until Berkshire Gas arrived. When Berkshire Gas arrived on the scene, they found several small leaks in the main gas line leading into the kitchen. The main gas feed into the building was shut off and locked down by Berkshire Gas.
5:15 p.m. Meacham Street: A resident of a College-owned faculty residence stopped by the CSS office to report that a fire alarm had been ringing in a downstairs neighbor’s apartment and there was an odor of something burning. Officers activated 911 for WFD to respond. The resident of that apartment was not home, but there was burnt toast in the microwave, causing the fire alarm to sound and the burning smell to waft through the house. The officers ventilated the area and silenced the alarm.
Sunday 11-3-19
1:05 a.m. Mission Park walkway: Officers responded to the south end of the walkway for an emergency phone activation. While en route, dispatch advised that they received another emergency phone activation at the Haystack phone. Upon arrival, the officers found no one in the area, and believed it was a group of students that had just left the snack bar at Mission Park.
1:11 a.m. Cole Field: WPD and CSS officers both responded to a noise complaint. They found a group of around 10 students on the bleachers stargazing. The group of students decided they were cold and done for the evening, and they left the area.
1:49 a.m. Hoxsey Street: Dispatch received a report of students making a lot of noise at the intersection of Hoxsey Street and Walden Street. WPD was also advised of the complaint. There were several small groups of students walking along Hoxsey Street, but no one was making an excessive amount of noise. The First Chance dance was ending at Paresky, meaning that the noise was most likely caused by students leaving that event and heading home for the night.
11:40 a.m. Mission Park: Officers responded to a student who had a biking accident near the south entrance. Northern Berkshire EMS arrived and evaluated the student, and then transported the student to BMC North.
