Julia Cancio ’18
“[Julia’s] recent match against Amherst was gritty, aggressive, focused and passionate. I would expect nothing else and am grateful the team has her around to remind them of what it looks like to give everything you have on court. Her competitive spirit and passion will be a source of inspiration for her younger teammates in the years ahead.”
– Head coach Anik Cepeda
Cancio won in her doubles and singles matchups against rival Amherst on Saturday, contributing to a 6-3 Eph win.
Jacob Kahrs ’19
Men’s track and field
Huntington Station, N.Y.
“Jake definitely ran an incredibly smart race this weekend. However, the biggest thing Jake did happened before the gun even went off. Jake was matched up against MIT’s top steeplechaser, who qualified for Nationals last year and on paper was 30 seconds faster. Jake mentally made this a non-factor, assembled a great race and out-kicked MIT over the final 400 meters.”
– Head coach Ethan Barron
Kahrs had a strong kick in the 3000m steeplechase and bested an MIT All-American to win the race in 9:32.02.
