WPD makes arrest near Sawyer

Last Sunday, the Williamstown Police Department (WPD) arrested two adults not affiliated with the College. WPD encountered the individuals on Stetson Court after being called regarding a confrontation between the two. Meaghan Brown was arrested after WPD officers learned she had an active arrest warrant, and Garsny Lafontant was arrested for one count of Assault and Battery.

The WPD were informed at 4:18 p.m. of a dispute between the two arrested individuals, and witnesses said that both the individuals left the area in the same vehicle. “Approximately 15 minutes later, WPD officers observed the vehicle and pulled it over to further investigate the report,” Sergeant Scott McGowan said. “During the traffic stop, only the man was in the vehicle.” However, the investigation eventually resulted in the arrest of both Brown and Lafontant. Brown was released Sunday evening and has a court date on Oct. 16 at Cambridge District Court. Lafontant was transported to the Northern Berkshire District Court last Monday.
