Students wishing to bring their cars to Weston Field to tailgate on Saturday for the football game against Wesleyan will be allowed to drive in at 8 a.m., Dave Boyer, assistant director of security, said. The Williamstown Police Department (WPD) will be in charge of directing traffic on Latham St. and will also be working at the game.
In past years, cars have started lining up in the Towne Field House parking lot between 3 and 4 a.m. in order to secure a tailgating spot. The WPD will try and accommodate those cars waiting in the lot before letting others in, Boyer said. Security and the WPD will let in as many cars as can safely fit. In addition, student vehicles are not allowed to park on the north- end zone fence.
Kegs are not allowed at the tailgate. Boyer said that officers will be checking cars to ensure that the rule is enforced.
Boyer expects between seven and eight thousand people to attend the game.
