WCF: God does love queer people

Over the course of the last year, the Williams Christian Fellowship has sponsored an ongoing Bible Study on contemporary Christian issues, led by Rev. Dr. Chris Smith of the First Baptist Church. After Spring Break, as we began to examine the issue of Christianity and homosexuality, we were joined by members of the BGLTU and others in the community.

This has, we believe, been a mutually constructive time to build understanding, listen, and move beyond stereotypes.

In conjunction with Queer Pride Week, we would like to affirm our conviction that, while some of us believe that a homosexual lifestyle is inconsistent with the Bible’s teachings, we all believe in the primacy of Jesus’ command to love one another.

In this spirit, we affirm that all people are created in the image of God, and are therefore worthy of equal respect and love, and we vehemently condemn all acts and all attitudes of hatred.
