Williams second in fall standings for Sears Cup

Trinity University of Texas has moved ahead of Williams in the final fall rankings in the Sears Directors’ Cup competition. The defending champion Ephs have 268 points, 17 behind Trinity (TX), and second overall.

The Tigers of Trinity University placed four teams in the top five in NCAA Div. III championship events this past fall with women’s volleyball placing second, football third and both men’s and women’s soccer finishing fifth for a total of 285 points.

This fall the Ephs finished third in women’s soccer, third in women’s cross-country, fifth in men’s soccer and 11th in men’s cross- country.

Trinity University is a liberal arts and sciences institution of about 2,500 students in San Antonio. The Tigers field 18 varsity sports ( nine men, nine women) and compete in the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference.

Last year Williams won its third Sears Directors’ Cup in the four-year history of the competition with a final point total of 640. Trinity (TX) was ninth in 1998-99 with a total of 300 points.
