Program director thanks volunteers for involvement

To the Editor:

On behalf of the Williamstown Elementary School community, I would like to extend a heartfelt and public thank you to everyone who participated in the sixth annual Adventures in Learning program. The instructors (38 Williams College students and six parents) volunteered many hours to design, prepare and teach 23 courses to over 150 2nd-6th graders. The kids had a great time learning about topics ranging from biology to drama to India to needlepoint. At the final open house, we enjoyed an original Broadway musical, a mini-version of Peter Pan, a series of improvised skits and several songs by the “Weephlats.” Other classes showed off wonderful paintings, read their own illustrated stories, demonstarted their internet savvy and shared other adventures too numerous to mention.

Adventures in Learning was supported this year by generous grants from Williams College, the WPS Parent Teacher Association, the Williamstown Community Chest and the Venolia-Thoman Fund. I’m also very grateful for the enthusiastic support of Principal David Rempell and Superintendent Paul Jennings and many other staff members at the school. Again, thanks to everyone who was part of the adventure!
